Sandra grew up in Eastern Germany and her interest in photography was sparked at a young age by her father who was a photojournalist and by visiting a variety of photographic exhibitions. Sandra has moved away from photographing wide-angle landscape shots saying, ‘A truly great image of a grand landscape is very difficult to achieve.’ She has moved towards a greater focus in her work on more intimate and abstract work. She now aims ‘to create work that is part of a larger body of work’ and that excites her personally. She says that ‘creating images for a long-term project lets you focus on certain ideas and it opens your eyes to subjects or concepts you might have overlooked otherwise’.
She works to get the image as close to the finished product as possible and does very little post-processing work.
Unfortunately Sandra’s new website is under construction – but what there is can be seen here
