Josephine Collingwood

Josephine started her career as a geo-scientist, having gained a degree in Geophysics but in 1994 she returned to studying at Plymouth College of Art and Design, specialising in stills photography and at the end of her three year course embarked on her career as a professional photographer. Her work focuses on three main areas: architectural photography; interior photography; and landscapes.

Josephine has published Dartmoor Tors compendium by Tavicinity Publishing which combines her beautiful images of 155 tors with information on each tor bringing together the features and history around each tor. Each tor is featured across a double page spread.

Josephine talk is titled: Dartmoor in Monochrome and she will present a visual journey on the making of black and white photographs for the Dartmoor Tors Compendium book. She says ‘Early on in the process of photographing all the tors of Dartmoor, it became apparent to me that monochrome was better at expressing character than colour alone.  I developed a technique to work with RAW images and turn them into a consistent style.’
