Bridget Davies will be hosting this event.

We will meet at 6.30 pm in the car park adjacent to the Tor, for which the what 3 words address is corrosive.tripled.forum.

The sun is due to set at at 20.17, but will descend behind Hameldown Tor a little earlier, at 20.00. The Tor is easily accessible with a gentle climb from the car park, and offers lots of good views and shooting opportunities.

If the weather is truly awful, this shoot will be cancelled or postponed.  Check this site nearer the time.

The local Ordnance Survey map of the area is shown below.  The car park is towards the top left, and Hound Tor itself is slightly to the south east from there.

Also below is a screenshot from the app photopills at 8pm for 24 August.  The pin is in the middle of Hound Tor, and the time set for 20.00.  The yellow line from the pin shows where the sun will have risen, and thick orange one where it will set. As mentioned above, the sun will set behind Hameldown at around this time, at an angle marked by the white dotted line.  I know from experience that it is very easy to miss this moment, as the sky is can still be well lit at this time. The half moon, incidentally, will be to the south & relatively low in the sky. Its track is shown by the blue lines.  It will not be worth hanging around for the Milky Way, as it will only appear from 22.25 for and hour and 40 minutes, and be low in the sky.
