Tim Crabb, one of our great nature photographers within the club, writes:

‘One of my extreme macro photos has been selected for the 2023 British Photography Awards Shortlist!

There is a category for ‘People’s Choice’ award, and if you would be so kind to follow the link below and vote for my picture ‘Dewy Hopper’ in the Macro category I would be very grateful.

And while you’re there why not enjoy some of the other photography in the Macro and other categories!

Thanks in advance for your vote!’

Good luck to Tim!

Ruth Grindrod Colour, tones and Textures in Landscape Photography

Ruth took a technical and theoretical approach, using her own images to illustrate the importance of these elements in the landscape, including some techniques in basic processing. She showed us how they, together with light, aim to create artistic and an emotional response. She explored these themes in detail with many images, breaking down elements – colour, tone and texture, also demonstrating her choices in composition, cropping and processing. Her thorough approach and clear delivery worked well as a zoom event. Her colour pallets were often restrained and muted showing a quiet, calm beauty.
