A hugely entertaining and humorous evening with Leigh Preston who showed his striking and often emotive images of a lost Britain; a journey around the old industrial powerhouses of the north, now in decline, with interludes of landscape and Rock Bands. Leigh’s six theme presentation, mainly in monochrome, was often poignant; drawing our attention to social issues and the sort of society and country we have’ lost’ and posing questions about the ‘here and now’. His sense of humour and ability to take on regional accents with anecdotes of the encounters with people while image making, brought it all alive with imaginary and voices. He is a master story teller and his early childhood, especially on the street that he lived in Reading, has had a lifelong influence on his photography and the genre he loves with a passion.
