The Shades of Grey Group

Our aim is to provide an informal but supportive framework within which members of varying experience and ability are able to: share their work; give and receive constructive criticism; gain help and give advice; broaden experience and generally explore and enjoy a common interest in black and white photography.

The number of members is deliberately kept to around twenty in order to encourage a more relaxed and conducive atmosphere, allowing plenty of time to discuss individual member’s images.

Each month there is a set subject as a focus for the group and the resultant images are shown at the next meeting for discussion. 'Open subject' images may also be viewed where time allows. Additional activities/trips take place at different times during the year.

During the year members may be asked to give a ten minute presentation of either their work, that of another photographer that interests them, or about a particular skill or technique. This does not have to be an onerous task and can simply take the form of presenting a few images for general discussion.

The published programme may be subject to change throughout the year.

Meetings are held monthly at 7.30 pm at The Coaver Club, County Hall. The membership fee for the year remains at £25 and is payable, in cash, at the first session.
